4 Sri Lanka cricketers hurt, 5 policeman and 2 people killed in Lahore shooting

Today morning around 8:30 when Sri lankan criciket team going to Qaddafi stadium for the second test 3rd day session they faced a really bad incident when more then 10 gunman start shooting.

Seven people including five policemen were killed and four Sri Lankan cricketers were wounded in a shooting attack in Lahore on Tuesday.

Sri Lankan tour has been called off after the attack. According to sources, unknown attackers opened fire on Sri Lankan cricket team bus near Gaddafi Stadium.Intense trade of fire occurred between police and unknown attackers. CCPO Lahore Habibur Rehman said there were 12 attackers carrying rocket launchers; hand grenade, Kalashnikovs and Mousers who reportedly reached the site in rickshaws. Seven people including five cops were killed in the shooting.

  • Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapakse condemned Tuesday's attack against the country's national cricket squad in Pakistan, his office here said."I condemn this cowardly terrorist attack targeting the Sri Lankan cricket team," Rajapakse said in a message sent from Nepal, where he is on an official visit.
  • Sri Lanka rushed Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollegama to Pakistan Tuesday after the national cricket team was attacked in Lahore, the president's office said.
  • Former chief of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Gen(R) Hameed Gul said India is trying to weaken Pakistan.
